NGO RESEARCH NETWORK

Introduction

This network, founded in 2010, joins together academic researchers from European and North American universities that are involved in theoretical, empirical and experimental work in this broad area of economic research.

We focus on a particular intersection of four economics fields (development, public, organizational, and international economics). The unifying theme is the organizational and contractual aspects of the provision of public goods and services by organizations that are neither purely for-profit nor public-sector, and whose members or workers are (at least potentially) motivated by non-monetary incentives.

These organizations include NGOs, nonprofits, social enterprises (for-profits that are explicitly mission-driven), philanthropic ventures, charities, corporate social responsibility arms of for-profit firms, and the like.

On this website you can find information concerning the researchers and institutions participating in the network activities, the programs of past workshops and training activities organized by the network, a (non-exhaustive) reading list (surveys and some of the classic readings), new working papers, as well as links to the existing data sources.
